Chiang Mai, Thailand at the Payap University Linguistics Institute
Come join a workshop based on creating songs for literacy and on the forthcoming book Literacy Games: 100 Ways to Teach Reading and Writing! The workshop will introduce fun, low-tech games for building reading and writing skills at every level—from Foundations to Advanced Reading and Writing—and show how they can be used with children or adults in schools, communities, or homes. Participants will also have the chance to try out games and explore ways to adapt them for their own settings.
Participants will also learn the basics of song composition based on local cultural music styles. They will have the opportunity to work with experienced ethnomusicologists and arts experts to learn how to create new songs that can be used in all kinds of literacy or education programs.

Registration cost is $60 US dollars (or 2000 Thai baht) for the week which will include 2 coffee breaks each day. Lunch is available at the campus canteen for less than 2 dollars per meal.
